When you get this qualification?

When you get this qualification?

  • You will be able to gain employment as a baby and pre-school swimming teacher who can teach babies through to pre-schoolers in adult and child swimming lessons.
  • You will be qualified to teach the STARFISH and STAnley stages of STA’s progressive International Learn to Swim Programme.
  • Your course resource manual will act as a guide throughout your baby and pre-school swimming teaching journey – always there for you to refer to should you need it.
  • Keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date with regular CPDs.

How to take this qualification further?

  • If you enjoy being there for children who have never swam before and seeing them progress to confident beginners, then you may also be interested in the STA Swimming Teacher Qualification. The participants may also be as new to swimming as the babies you are used to, and you can be the person to take them through the most crucial part of their swimming journey!
  • ​Alternatively, once you’ve had experience as a baby and pre-school teacher you may find you want to develop more advanced skills. In that case, the STA Level 3 Diploma in Aquatic Teaching – Baby & Pre-School qualification may be for you; it will expand and develop your technical knowledge and provide you with the latest academic research and theories, which you can then integrate into your lessons.

Learners must have all pre-requisites in place before the start of the course. Qualification certificates cannot be issued if all pre-requisites are not met before the start of the course, post course submissions will not be accepted.

What is the Baby & Pre-School Swim Teacher qualification?

It is a professional aquatic teaching qualification that equips you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons for babies, toddlers, and pre-school children.

Are there any entry requirements?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old and hold a Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults certificate or an accepted equivalent before the course begins. We can help you get your safeguarding certificate through E-Learning.

Is the qualification recognised?

Yes. The training is created by aquatic experts and regulated by recognised awarding bodies, with accreditation including Ofqual regulation and SQA Accreditation.

How is the course delivered?

Delivery includes a combination of theory and practical learning, through zoom and then in person practical. We can also deliver private courses at your site.
